Random Reprobates

It has been brought to my attention that I have been rather remiss in updating the Golden Book pictures. We didn't have one last week and we were on holiday for the previous two weeks but here are a collection of recent winners for your delectation.

I think it was Galileo who threw two balls from a tower to find out which could fall faster. But both fell at the same time.

Galileo Galilei did that expiriment at the Leaning tower of Pisa. He dropped two different balls off of the tower; one 10 pound cannonball and one 1 pound ball of the same material. According to the legend, they hit the ground at exactly the same time, but actually the smaller ball hit the ground more than a quarter of a second later than the large ball!
