And The Winner Is...

Going to be announced tomorrow! The results were very, very close though. I think you might be surprised at who was in the top 3. Remember, the winner will compete with the other class winners to be the best in the Year Group and maybe go on to compete in the UP Assembly on Wednesday!

Poetry Please!

Alrighty then! It's the House Poetry Competition coming soon and here's what you've got to do:

Choose a poem between 12 and 24 lines (longer is ok if you can manage it)
Learn it by heart
Print it or save it and give it to Mr Ward
Recite your poem next week and maybe be the best in the class

Then, once we've chosen the best in the class, we'll choose the best in the Year Group and then we'll hear the best in the school in the UP Assembly on the 29th.

Good luck! Here's a poet that Mrs Ward really likes. I wonder why...

One Week Over, Four To Go!

Phew! Wednesday again and another busy week ends in Y5-2. We've been up to our ears in maths tests this week, as well as a little bit of science work, drawing our eyes and all sorts of other things.

It looks like things are going to get a lot busier soon as well so check out the tab at the top of the page to find out about some upcoming events. A couple of things I do want to mention are the House Picnics; the next one is South House on Tuesday, and the House Poetry Competition. I'll tell you more about this on Saturday but you could start thinking about it now.

Here's a little quiz for you; whose eyes are these? Reply to this message to tell me the answers.

Aye, aye!

The pencils have been really smoking today!

We've been busy doing maths tests, which is always fun, and in art we've been sketching the eye. Drawing isn't usually something we find easy, in fact, it's pretty hard for most of us. But it is something that we can get better at if we keep doing our best and practice. So eye was glad to see that our sketches of our eyes got a lot better from the beginning of the lesson to the end. Sometimes it's annoying to have to start again or to make a mistake and 'spoil' a picture but the best things take time to arrive and nothing good ever comes easy so well done to everyone who kept going. After all, Michelangelo took four years to finish his greatest work so two lessons isn't really that bad!
