Today's Homework

  1. Learn Spelling
  2. Abacus PCM p.113 + 114
  3. Research stars - find out anything you can about our sun or other stars; think about age, size, temperature, what it is made of etc
Now, I'm not going to be here on Saturday and Sunday as I'll be in Dubai, hard at work with the football team. BE GOOD for your teacher, whoever it is. You will need to be extra helpful and extra organised. That means remembering to put up your hand, helping the teacher find what they need and reminding them about lesson changes and where people need to go eg Mrs Kingham's group, swimming times etc.

Have a good start to the week and I'll see you on Monday!

Mystery Question Answered!

Last week's question was 'What is significant about Apollo 17?'

The answer is that Apollo 17 was the last American space mission which landed men on the moon. It happened in the 1970s and since then, nobody from any country has sent a manned mission to the moon. Perhaps by the time you are adults more people will have been.

Congratulations to those who got the right answer and a housepoint: Sulaiman, Deborah, Adlan and Adam.

  1. Daily Maths 1 + 5
  2. Reading Log - choose 2 activites for your book. Remember to highlight the ones you have done.
  3. Research a constellation - choose a constellation, answer the questions we discussed in class. You might want to think of your own questions as well. Write at least 5 questions and answers. You could start looking for information here.
If you want to download that amazing star program that we were using in class today, you can get it from here. It's called 'Stellarium'. It's not a big program so you should be able to download it quite quickly.

Today's Homework

  1. Write your spelling sentences - in your yellow book, in your best handwriting. I will be looking to see who will get the next pen licence!
  2. Finish your 'Keith Haring' picture - this is only for the people who started it last week but haven't given it in.
  3. Type your newspaper story - this is only for the people who have shown me their story and talked to me about it. Some people have already finished.
  4. Abacus PCM p.21 & p.22 - this is only for the people who are not typing their newspaper story.
So it looks like a lot of homework but most people should only be doing number 1 and one other piece.

We also have a new addition to the class; Zeinab. I wonder if you can guess which one she is? Welcome to Y5-2 Zeinab and I'm sure we'll be seeing you on here more in the future.

Here they are then: Arouba, Saleh, Adlan, Sawsan, Salma and Zeinab.

Happy New Year

Welcome to a new decade everyone! It's the teens, or at least it will be in three years. The last ten years was the Noughties for some people, you were born in the 90s, I was born in the 70s. What are people going to call this decade, I wonder?

Anyway, there will be some updates to the blog coming soon but I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I hope you all had a refreshing, restful, relaxing holiday and are now ready to get back to school! Don't forget: Monday is PE day so bring your PE kit.
