Saturday, 8 December 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 1
  2. Wordsearch - this is the one from ICT. Remember, it belongs to someone else so please look after it.
  3. Writing - This is different for different groups so CONCENTRATE:
North and West - Letts, page 18 questions 1 & 3. The questions are about verbs
South and East - Key Comprehension, page 36. Questions about the story we discussed in class.

Both of those writing pieces should be done in the writing book. All homework to be given in tomorrow.

Tuesday, 4 December 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 4
  2. Write a 'Happy Family' type story. Remember the plan that we went through in class; you could have a problem that is repeated and then resolved. There should be simple words, short sentences and a happy ending. If you're not sure what to do, we'll go over the plan again tomorrow and you can do it at the weekend. NB THIS HOMEWORK IS TO GIVE IN ON SATURDAY!

Today's Homework

Sorry for the delay but I've only just been able to get onto Blogger. :-( Anyway, here we go:

  1. Daily Maths 3 (of course)
  2. Abacus Number workbook p. 24 & 28 (not 24-28!)
  3. Handwriting workbook - this is different for everyone so check the diary to see which part you should do.

Saturday, 1 December 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 1 - Write the time shown on the clocks, in words
  2. Learn your spellings - this week is past tense verbs
  3. Write about 7 important parts of the body - you need to make a chart or table in the topic book. Choose a body part, maybe an organ, and write what problems could occur, especially when you get older. Then, write what we can do to fix any problems or avoid problems occurring at all. This could be: eating certain foods, doing specific things (eg exercise) or even avoiding certain things. As much detail as possible please.

Matball

So, remember everyone; Sunday is Matball Day! Hurray! We will be playing Matball from about 12 o'clock until 2.30 so there are no clubs on Sunday. It also means that, for us, there is no Arabic on Sunday but I can try to get the Arabic teacher to give you an extra lesson if you really want me to ;-)

Remember what Mr Jones told us in Assembly:
  • Wear your house colour t-shirt, shorts and trainers to school. No changing.
  • Bring a hat. You will be outside for a long time. Bring water as well.
  • Look on the House Boards or ask me to find out what team you are in.
And the most important thing of all, PLAY FAIR AND HAVE FUN!!

Of coursE, it doesn't mAtter who winS, the most imporTant thing is taking part.

Tuesday, 27 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 4
  2. Abacus Maths workbook p.18-19 Both pages!
  3. Look at the questions (and answers!) that you did for homework yesterday. If there are any yes/no answers, change the questions so that your parents cannot answer yes or no. It's what we call an 'open' question, rather than a closed one.
  4. Finish off the picture of a teacher. It needs to be drawn and coloured, including the background. DO NOT GIVE IT IN BEFORE SATURDAY!! IT NEEDS CAREFUL EFFORT!!

Monday, 26 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 3
  2. Ask your parents 8 or more questions about school.
I know we didn't get a chance to write the questions down so here are a few suggestions. BUT! remember that you can use your own ideas, you don't have to copy mine.
  • How did the teachers treat the students?
  • Were they allowed to beat the students?
  • What were the most important rules?
  • What lessons did you have?
  • Where did your teachers come from?
  • How many kids were in the class?
  • Where did the kids come from?
  • Were you ever naughty and what punishments did you get?
  • What did you eat? Was there a cafeteria?
  • Was it a school for boys and girls?
  • What language did you learn in?
  • Was it a private school?
  • What age could you leave school?
  • Did your parents' parents go to the same school?

Saturday, 24 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 1
  2. Write a 'diary' of a day in your life. Include information about what you do and how you feel. It should be in three paragraphs: one for the morning, one for the afternoon and one for the evening.

International Day: The Results

We all had a great time on International Day. Thanks very much to all the parents who sent in food, who came along to take photos and say 'hello' and those who helped their kids with their costumes. It was a really colourful, happy day for everyone and it was especially nice to have the whole school sitting outside in a big tent.

Here are a few pictures of the event (I hope you can see them) and I'm sure that more will come out in a future Jeddah Journal or Conti Chronicle.

International Day!

Yes, tomorrow is International Day. The day you have been waiting for all week. The fact that it is also Wednesday is nothing to do with it. First of all, let's get the bad news out of the way: INTERNATIONAL DAY IS A NORMAL SCHOOL DAY WITH LESSONS AND EVERYTHING!! At the same time though, we'll be thinking about the international nature of our school and maybe finding out about other cultures and other countries.

So, we'll be having a parade of students and staff in their national clothes (see below for more details), we'll be having an international feast of food, brought in by you and prepared by your hard-working family (or bought) and we'll be having a special, international assembly featuring a special dance by the poor English teachers in the Middle School. They will be wearing something like this

I wonder if I could stop being English for the day?

So, come along early Mums and Dads, to catch a glimpse of your children in their best costumes. You might be lucky enough to see some teachers looking a bit silly.

International Day rules
No flags
No football shirts
No military uniforms

It is a day of peace and goodwill between nations. Flags, uniforms and sports shirts can end up a source of arguments, rather than happiness.

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 4
  2. Learn your spellings - as usual, you need to look through your topic book to find 3 words that you have spelled wrongly.
  3. Abacus workbook p.17

Monday, 19 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 3
  2. Bring 1 empty food packet to school - we're looking for information about nutrition, ingredients and we'll be talking about how food helps us to stay healthy.
  3. Write one paragraph about your toy - concentrate on capital letters and spelling but also think about adding adjectives. I would like it to be descriptive. Think about the questions we talked about in class.

Tuesday, 13 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 4
  2. Diet Trials - beginning tomorrow
Everyone has a chart in their topic book. Starting tomorrow, I would like everyone to keep a record of all the things that they have been eating for breakfast, lunch and dinner, not forgetting all of the snacks that you have. On Sunday we'll be able to see what sort of food people have and we can start talking about what we need to be healthy, what the food is doing to our body and so on.

Click here for more information about food.

Monday, 12 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 3
  2. Bring 2 pictures
i) an old person
ii) a hard activity eg skiing, wrestling, hockey, snowboarding, running, skateboarding

We have been talking about old people this week. What they can do, what they can't do and what people think of them. We noticed that we don't expect old people to do very much; just sit in their chair, sleep, rest, wobble slowly around, fall over and that sort of thing. We didn't even think they looked nice; wrinkly skin, white hair, no teeth. One person even said that they were hideous!

So, I thought it would be a good idea if we could mix up some pictures and put an old person in a place we wouldn't expect to find them; on a football field, skiing down a mountain, wrestling John Cena and that sort of thing. We can get a picture of an old person, cut out their head or body and stick them into the other picture. What fun!

Saturday, 10 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 1
  2. Abacus workbook p.14+15
  3. Learn your spellings

Wednesday, 7 November 2007

Finishing Off, for the parents as well

First of all, let me say 'Well done!' to Mohammed and Anastasia. They were the only ones who found the answers to the bonus question from yesterday's homework. I know it was up to you whether to do it but it does show a high level of effort and enthusiasm from those two. Congratulations both and it's four class points for Anastasia and 9 (!) for Mohammed. The answers are below. Click on their names to find out more.

On a second point, one mum was telling me that she wishes that we still had Daily Maths every day. I'm not sure if the kids would agree but it did get me thinking. If you want to do all 5 of the Daily Maths tasks, you are quite free to do so. Just remember to do the assigned homework first and try not to give the kids too much to do. I will give Daily Maths 1 on Saturday, 3 on Monday and 4 on Tuesday so you can do 2 and 5 on Sunday and Wednesday if you want to.

Lastly, only 2 parents in all of the Middle School got the Maths Quiz right this week! Mr Hugo worked out that you could get 360 housepoints for your kid's team if everyone sent in the right answer. So come on kids, come on parents! Have a go at the Maths Quiz from Jeddah Journal this weekend and we'll see how many more points we get next week.

Famous People & Their Jobs

  1. Orlando Bloom - actor
  2. George W. Bush - President of the U.S.A.
  3. Tina Turner - singer
  4. 50 Cent - rapper
  5. Hilary Clinton - American Senator
  6. Judi Dench - actor
  7. Sean Connery - actor
  8. Nelson Mandela - ex-President of South Africa
  9. Mick Jagger - singer
  10. Madonna - singer
  11. Oprah Winfrey - talk show host
  12. Saddam Hussein - ex-President of Iraq
  13. David Beckham - footballer
  14. Lindsay Lohan - actor/singer
  15. Daniel Radcliffe - actor
  16. Miley Cyrus - actor
I have to admit, I didn't know who some of them were. The kids did quite well at putting them in order of age. Can you do it?

Tuesday, 6 November 2007

Today's Homework

As we had two extra ICT lessons today there is only
  1. Daily Maths 1
Just for a bonus question
  • Do you know what jobs any of the famous people do? There were 16 of them, I think.
Write the answers on a piece of paper and bring it in.

Monday, 5 November 2007

Today's Homework

  1. Daily Maths 4
  2. Times table 100 square (don't spend more than 15 minutes on this)
  3. Finish the chart on body changes that we were doing in Topic

Sunday, 4 November 2007

Drawing Faces

Thanks for the drawings of people that everyone has done for homework. It's hard, isn't it?! But, if you take your time and remember the general proportions (how everything looks compared to other parts of the body) it will get easier.

Anyway, I've found an interesting website which has a video about how to draw faces. I'll try to show it to the class but it's easier for you to watch it at home, rather than trying to squeeze 20 people around one small screen. If you'd like to have a look, just click here.

Student Council

Well, our student councillor, Faisal, has had his first meeting and has given some feedback to the rest of the class on what was discussed. He will be having another meeting next Sunday when the Council will be talking about the cafeteria and the students' opinions of it. So, if you have anything you'd like us to pass on to the Student Council about the cafe, leave a comment or send in some ideas and we'll make sure that the Council gets to hear about it.

Some things to think about:
  • If you don't use the cafe, why not?
  • What changes have you noticed to the cafe this year?
  • What sort of food does the cafe sell?
  • What would you like it to sell?
  • How much do you think a child's meal should cost?
We'll let you know when the Council get back to us with their conclusions.

Saturday, 3 November 2007

Today's Homework

All homework to be handed in tomorrow.

1. Learn spellings
2. Daily Maths 2
3. Topic - use the sketching we did today and last week to draw a sketch of a moving figure. Remember to begin with the 6 ovals at the side to give you an idea of how large the body should be altogether.

Today's Homework

Prepare for tomorrow
1. Daily Maths 1
2. Learn spellings

Prepare for handing in on Saturday
3. Choose the best way to present the information about the three babies.
You could make a poster, write some sentences, make a chart. You could do it in your topic book, you could use another piece of paper, you could print it from the computer. You could even do nothing and leave it as it is now but I think we know by now about making an effort to make things better.

Don't forget I want the pictures of young and old people in tomorrow as well.

The Morning After The Night Before

I hope everyone had a good time at the Cinema Night yesterday. By all accounts it went well. The Student Council will be meeting to talk about what to do with all the lovely money that was collected so we'll be waiting for Faisal to tell us about the wonderful things he'll be buying!

Today we had a very interesting visit from Max and Hannah, two babies from the creche. They came to the hall and we had a chance to ask Mrs White, their nanny, questions about what they do, what they can't do, what they eat and all sorts of other things. I think everyone thought that they were very cute and we also discovered a lot of specific information which fitted in with what we already knew. Next we'll need a much older person to talk to so if anyone has a spare grandparent hanging around, let us know!

Saturday, 27 October 2007

Today's Homework

Hand in 1, 2 & 3 tomorrow
1. Daily Maths 3
It's the 3x table

3. Haydn Richards p.14
Changing singular to plural and writing sentences using plurals

Bring these in any time this week
Find pictures of old people and babies
Use magazines, newspapers, posters. It doesn't have to be your family, but it can be.

Young And Old

We're starting our new unit of study now. It's called 'Young and Old' and in it, we'll be finding out about the differences between young people and old people: how we look, what we can do, what we wear, where we go. We'll also be looking at how things have changed around us since our grandparents were young, or perhaps even before! Do we play with the same toys? Is school still the same? I know mine was.

Thanks to everyone who has already brought photos and other objects in to show the class. I know everyone is very interested in learning about other families and I know they'll treat everything with respect and care. However, please do not send anything in to school if it is completely irreplaceable. Sometimes accidents do happen and things can get lost or damaged.

On the side you'll see a new list of websites connected to the things we'll be learning about over the next 8 weeks. Please take the time to look at them. Let me know what you think and if you find anything good yourself, let us know.

On the subject of websites, particularly related to this topic, please kids, be responsible when you are web-surfing. Let your parents know what you are looking at, sit with them and talk about the things you finding out. The internet is a great place to find out about lots of things but sometimes it shows us things we didn't want to see.

Coming Events

Two things for everyone to remember:

  1. Tomorrow is Jeans for Genes Day. Please bring 5SR (or more!) which will go to this charity. You can then wear the clothes you choose, hopefully jeans. Remember what Mr Hugo said: no Crocs, no 'vest' type t-shirts with straps.
  2. Tomorrow is the last day to give in your money for Cinema Night, if you want to go. It will be on Monday next week and the film is 'TMNT', which, my young friends tell me is 'Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles'. 15SR and the permission letter by tomorrow, please.
In commemoration of the day, I have changed the colour scheme for this website to a template called...Denim!

Today's Homework

Due in tomorrow:
  1. Daily Maths 3
  2. Topic - Put the 10 events from your book in order of importance. 1=Most Important, 10=Least Important. Then, write a paragraph explaining your reasons for choosing that order.
Due in on Saturday:
  1. Find a picture of you as a baby. If possible, find pictures of your parents or grandparents when they were babies. Always ask for permission before bringing things to school.

Saturday, 20 October 2007

Welcome Back!

Hello again everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday, as I did and you're ready to get on with lots more work, as I'm not! It sounds like not many people went away but lots went to the beach or had fun around Jeddah. It's good to see (almost) everyone back in class again.

We'll be finishing off our topic of 'Significant People' this week and moving on to our new topic of 'Young and Old', as I mentioned. If anyone has a picture of themselves as a baby, or any clothes that they used to wear when they were babies, please bring them in for our introduction. Just don't show anyone though. It's a secret!

Also, a reminder. This Wednesday is Jeans for Genes day and we'll all be asked to bring 5SR and wear something denim, if we can. It's all for a good cause and you can find out more about it here.

Saturday, 6 October 2007

Happy Holidays

Well, we've come to the end of the first half term and I think we're all ready for a break now. We've been working hard and some really good research and presentations on our topic of Significant People has been done.

When we come back we'll be finishing off the last part of the first topic and getting ready to begin our next topic, which is all about us! It's called Young and Old and we'll be looking at how people as they get older and how places and things change over the years as well. So, if you come across anything in the holidays about you, when you were younger, about your parents or grandparents when they were little, about your city or country a long time ago or anything that you think would be interesting to show us, bring it back when we come back.

In the meantime, have a great break!

Student Council

Congratulations to...Faisal and Monika who were elected as Student Council member and Deputy this afternoon. They had both worked hard to prepare their thoughts before the presentations, they were both well-thought out and considered and they really deserved the votes of the class.

Well done to the rest of the class for putting themselves forward and voting for others. It's really refreshing to see so much enthusiasm for helping other people. I don't know if the Student Council will be able to cancel all homework, make Wednesday a free day or have parties every month as some people wanted but good luck to all of the Council members anyway.

Outdoor Ed 3

Here's a couple more photos from the Outdoor Ed day. I don't know if you can see them. I can't but that might be a problem with my computer. Leave a comment if you can't see them.

Student Council

As I mentioned on Saturday, each class needs to vote for one person to go on the Student Council. There could be many things that the Student Council do: helping decide the food for the cafe, deciding what the playground should look like, organising and choosing play equipment for the playground, deciding on reward systems for the school, meeting teachers to pass on student concerns and many other things. Even if we don't do all of those things, just being on the Student Council would be a great opportunity for you to get involved in how the school works.

Anyway, if you want to be on the Student Council you need to do a talk to the class, explaining why you think you should be on the Council. It doesn't have to be long talk; you could explain what you want to do, what the Student Council should do, why you would be best at helping people, listening to them or working with other people.

After the talks, we'll vote. If you're not in it, you can't win it!

Homework

I was a bit disappointed today to find that some people hadn't done their homework. Not many, only three or four but as I'd given everyone four days to do it, I wasn't expecting people to say that they hadn't had time. So this message is partly for our class and partly for the mums and dads.

If there is ever any problem with the homework: you don't understand it, you can't remember what to do, you've left your books at school, you didn't have time to do it, you were visiting grandparents, you went to a party or even the cat was sick on it ASK YOUR PARENTS TO WRITE A NOTE IN THE DIARY.

Coming to school and telling me that you didn't have time or you forgot it in the car is not good enough. It isn't acceptable in Y4. You should be able to organise yourselves to bring your books to and from school when you need them.

Now I don't mind this happening once. Everyone forgets things once or twice, even me! But some people are telling me the same excuse every time they have homework and time's up.

Thanks for reading.

Outdoor Ed 2

The first day went really well and everyone had a nice time, even those who forgot their swimming kit, towels or lunches. Let's hope everyone is a bit more organised today.

Here's a couple of photos of the day.

Outdoor Ed

Remember everybody, Saturday and Monday are our Outdoor Ed days. We will be spending most of those days on the beach and in the water, learning team work, co-operation and independent problem solving. It will be a lot of fun but it is also an important part of our social and physical education in Y4 so, see you there!
Mr Patterson reminded us of things that we need to bring with us on those days and, in case anyone has forgotten (not my class!) here's the list again:

  • Lunch - bring lots as you 'll be using a lot of energy
  • Water - in a plastic bottle. It will be hot! (no fizzy drinks)
  • Swimming costume or trunks
  • 3 old t-shirts
  • Plastic bag - for your wet clothes
  • Mask and snorkel - no mask = no diving!
  • Sun cream - make sure it is water proof, otherwise it will wash off straight away
  • Flip flops - for wearing to and from the beach
  • Dive boots or water sports shoes - so they don't fall off in the water. Not trainers!
  • No cameras!
There we go then. Try to bring all that stuff, and yourselves and we'll have a great time!

The First Module

So, we're beginning with our first unit of study: Significant People. The sub-title of it is 'They Made A Difference' and in it we'll be researching and studying people from different cultures and different countries, looking at the way that they have changed the world and what effect they have had on the people around them.

We'll be asking the children to think about famous people and to consider whether famous is the same as important. They'll be looking for famous artists and musicians and trying to find out what it is that has made those people famous. Why do we know their names all these years after they lived? Or perhaps they are famous now.

To help you in your research, I have listed some internet resources in the sidebar on the right. Please use them, along with anything else you might find, to help you find out about the lives of these significant people. Please remember though, the information that you find is for you to take and use, changing it into your own words. Do not just print off a page from a website and try to hand it in.

If you find anything interesting anywhere else that you think might help the rest of us, post a comment on this post and I'll share it with the class.

Our New Curriculum

This year, we will be using the International Primary Curriculum as the basis for our study, instead of an adaptation of the English National Curriculum.

There are quite a few differences between the two, one of which is the greater flexibility that we have when using the IPC. It allows us to choose different units of study, or modules, instead of following whatever they do in the UK. Another difference is the way that all of us work together.

If we had the idea before that the teacher passes on information to the children and the children soak it up, that isn't the case any more. Teachers and children will be working together, with teachers acting as guides. The children will be given a lot more responsibility over their own work this year. Of course, teachers will still be supervising and helping, but they will not be there to stand at the front and talk at the class.

It's going to be an interesting, challenging year. Let's get it started!

Monday, 3 September 2007

New Start

Ok, here we are again. Hmm. Not much has changed here in a while, has it? Well, I'll use the excuse that I thought that the class names were all changing, so y4-5.blogspot wouldn't be the right name any more. But, we've kept the old names so I guess that I can keep the old blog as well.

Now, that's not the only change. There are lots of new things happening at school this term, including a new class (Hello!) so I'll get around to adding the necessary new bits as soon as possible.

One of those is about the new units of study we'll be covering. I've been looking for some useful websites to help with research and I'll be adding them to the link list on the right. In the meantime, be patient!

Back soon.

Problems

It's fraction time again in Y4-5. Lots of us are having problems with fractions, especially converting one fraction to another. Here's an idea!

Look at the maths links in the side bar. There is a lot of information about fractions on the Marvellous Maths site.

Here's another one that's good. Click on this link. If you go to the bottom of that page, you can change the worksheet so that it gets harder, as you get better!

Wednesday, 7 March 2007

New Bits

I've added a link to the collection on the side. It's under the heading 'Science'. As we're now studying electricity, I've found a site about safety and electricity. Some of it is for older kids but there are games and other things that will be helpful to us.

Have a look at it and see if there's anything you already know!

Writing it right

Congratulations to our winners! I don't know if you have noticed but the handwriting competition winners, which have been posted outside our room for the last couple of weeks, have had stars added to them. The stars tell you who came 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in all of Y4 and the best two calligraphers in the year group are...

Arshee and Cara!!!

Well done you two. More apples are being grown, as we speak. I shall have to plant a special orchard for all of the apples that Arshee is winning.

Well done also to our other winners from Y4-5: Abdullah (who managed to spell his name right), Damian and Nadia.

Apples for you as well. Someone needs to keep track of them all!

Earthquakes in the news

As we're on the subject of earthquakes and volcanoes and general geological activity, there has been an earthquake in Indonesia. Have a look at the BBC report here. It mentions a little bit about the centre of the earthquake and which parts of the world were affected. It also gives a little bit of information about other areas of Indonesia which have suffered from tsunamis and earthquakes over the last 5 years. A housepoint for anyone who can first tell me which months and years they happened in.

Reading it Right

It was our class Book Week performance reading competition today. It seemed that everyone had practiced at home, which was encouraging, and there were some really good performances. Honourable mentions should go to Omar and Serena, who did very well but, when I added up the points that you gave them, the winners were: Tamara, Nadia and Arshee. Apples all round and well done to everybody else.

Getting to the bottom of the problem

Oh, look at this.
It's a chair. But hold on though. It is sitting nicely on the floor and not being rocked backwards and forwards, from side to side or spun around on one leg. It can't be a chair from our classroom, can it Abdullah, Gasim, Omar, Mohammed, Nadia, Tara, Hamid or Damian?

Could everybody please try to remember how to use chairs this week? Pretty please? Thank you so much.

Star of the Week

This week, I chose Arshee. My main reason was for her exceptional art work. Her latest piece, a mosaic, is now on display in the Art Room. Pretty much everything she does is extremely careful, extremely thorough and extremely good. Well done Arshee!

Tuesday, 27 February 2007

Things to remember for Book Week!

  • Choose a reading for the competition. Maximum 1 minute.
  • Think of a costume for Wednesday. No movie characters!
  • Choose a cartoon character to draw for our book cover.

Monday, 26 February 2007

Book Week!

As you know, it's Book Week coming up and to celebrate that auspicious occasion we will be 'doing' an author. I have scoured the literary world to find an example of the kind of educational, improving, informative and morally uplifting art that will inspire our children to become better people, for there is no greater aim than that.

After an exhaustive elimination process I have decided upon

Of course, there is much more to Dav Pilkey than merely 'Captain Underpants'. You can find out all about him and his characters on his website. Just click here.

Wednesday, 21 February 2007

Star of the Week

This week I chose Nadia. She might be very chatty in class and has trouble sitting properly on her seat but she has really made a big effort to improve her work, especially her maths and handwriting. When I think about what she was like before Christmas, oh my goodness! But now; amazing! Well done Nadia!

Sports' Day

Ok, it was Sports' Day a while ago but I haven't had a chance to put any pictures up yet. It seems to be taking ages as well so I won't do them all at once. I think I managed to get everyone so your picture will appear, just maybe not at first.

Star of the Week

This week I chose a new boy; Majed. He's settled into a new school very well and has surprised me by doing some really good work straight away. Usually new children take time to fit in with the rest of the class but Majed looks like he has been here for much longer than a few weeks. Well done!

Star of the Week!

This week, it's Ali. I sometimes have a problem thinking of people to put in the Golden Book and this week was one of those times. I was looking around the class, wondering who to choose, when I thought, "Ali is always sensible, always does his best and always has sensible things to say in class." So well done Ali.

Coming Up

So, are you ready for the Sports' Day practice on Saturday? Are we going to see Y4-5 marching quickly into their teams, showing everyone else what to do and impressing all of the teachers with their enthusiasm, organisation and discipline? Or are we going to see Y4-5 running around like sheep, shouting that they all know exactly what team they are in, before heading off to the wrong line and being told off by Mr Pringle? Let's hope it's the first option.

A reminder from Mrs Saadi: please bring your IT homework on Tuesday, not Wednesday. I will try to remind you in class as well, if I remember.

Sports' Day!

Right, it's nearly Sports' Day so you'd better all get ready.

Make sure you look at the list by the housepoint board to check what team you are in.

Make sure you are ready for the practice on Saturday.

Make sure you cheer for your team when it does come to Sports' Day.

Make sure EAST win!

Star of the Week!

Congratulations to our Golden Book boy; Abdullah.

He has been extremely kind and considerate towards Majed, our new boy, which is exactly what we want to see in Y4-5. Well done Abdullah!

Congratulations as well to Omar, Mohammed and Serena for some really interesting presentations on animals. They will be adding their apple to the class tree.

Benchball Champions

It was Benchball day today. For the first time, all of the children in the MS played on the same day. Unfortunately, there must have been a lot of cheating, fouling and rule-breaking because East house DID NOT WIN!!!

I am sure that you will be as upset as I am to hear about that. I can't bring myself to write the name of the winners because we all know who it SHOULD have been. See if you can guess who it was from the clues in this paragraph.

Anyway, one of our class was in the team for the Y3 v Y4 final. In fact, he was the captain. Perhaps they thought looking like you've just woken up would be the way to win. It worked!

What did you think of the day? Was there anything that you think we should change for next year? Tell us and it might happen!

Last Day of Term

Here's some photos from the end of term in December 2006, including Jack's last day.
